Acritarchy is a design collective based in New York City. Our work develops the concept of the
permeable boundary—neither a wall nor an aperture, but something in between.
We are dedicated to creating architecture and landscapes that challenge the dissonances and rigidities of contemporary life
by offering intimate, porous, and nonhierarchical space.
An acritarch is a type of microfossil defined as having an uncertain origin and frequently possessing
round or complex shells. Acritarchs can be identified as far back as the Archaean Eon (2,500,000,000 BCE and earlier)
and may have reached their maximum diversity during the Ordovician Period (485,400,000–443,800,000 BCE).
